Omar Marmoush has been tipped to make the switch from Manchester to North London following positive club-to-club talks over the last week or so, with many Spurs fans assuming the deal was all but done after Fabrizio Romano’s comments yesterday.

This was after the Italian transfer specialist stamped his trademark “Here we go” on a deal for the Egyptian to join Tottenham.

Romano reported that a verbal agreement had been reached which would see the forward move to Spurs on an initial loan with a £50 million clause to buy that would become mandatory should certain conditions be met.

He went on to say that a medical was even in place today.

Some fans raised concerns that many other reputable journalists, including David Ornstein, had not commented on the matter.

In fact, today, there have been numerous reports that a deal is not in place as suggested.

Sam Tabuteau, sports reporter for Standard Sport, was one of the first to reveal this.

Plenty of others have since supported Tabuteau’s claim.

So has Fabrizio Romano jumped the gun, or is there an agreement in place?

It is The Lilywhite Ledger’s understanding that, while a deal for Omar Marmoush has progressed, Manchester City have not given the green light just yet for the forward’s transfer to Spurs.

There is optimism from both sides that a deal will be struck, but that remains to be seen with just a week left of the summer transfer window.

City want to have replacements all but lined up before they sanction a move for any of their players in the final knockings of the window, and Marmoush isn’t exempt from this.

Spurs are continuing to push for the winger’s services, with Roberto De Zerbi keen to bring in 3 forwards before 1st September.

Savinho is expected to be one of them, with the Brazilian having completed a medical and signed a long-term deal with the Lilywhites. All that is left to come is an official announcement of that.

Cody Gakpo is another player De Zerbi is desperate to bring to N17, but any transfer of the Dutchman is dependent on Liverpool securing Bradley Barcola and another winger’s services.

Nicolas Jackson, Georges Mikautadze and Jean Phillipe Mateta have all not been ruled out should Spurs have to pivot away from their primary targets (Marmoush and Gakpo) before the deadline.
