Cody Gakpo's Proposed Move To Tottenham Gains Speed After Formal Approach Made

Cody Gakpo’s move from Liverpool to Tottenham is gaining speed, with confidence growing that a deal can be struck after a first formal club-to-club approach.
Roberto De Zerbi made Gakpo a priority target following Spurs’ pursuit of Bournemouth’s Eli Kroupi Junior being cut short after the Frenchman suffered a foot injury that would put him out for 3-4 months.
The Dutchman is seen as an ideal alternative, being both Premier League proven and able to play on the wing or as a number 9.
De Zerbi has reportedly made calls to Gakpo to convince him of the project and his potential plan for the 27-year-old.
The Netherlands international is said to have reached a broad agreement on personal terms with the Lilywhites.
Joost Blaauwhof, who specialises in transfers of Dutch players, has suggested the move is becoming ‘very realistic’.
Gakpo has scored 45 goals and provided 19 assists across 145 appearances for Liverpool. In 8 outings against Tottenham, he has found the net 4 times.
The move for Gakpo could potentially spell the end of Richarlison or Dominic Solanke’s Tottenham career. A sale for either has not been ruled out as Spurs close in on the final 2 weeks of the transfer window.
Should the moves for the Liverpool man and Savinho materialise, Tottenham’s business would be considered 95% done. A full-back search is possible once Djed Spence’s move to Inter Milan is complete and other market oppurtunities would still be monitored.
